What Is Mini Facial?

A mini-home facial is an aesthetic treatment that uses skincare products according to your skin type to deliver you with the majority of the benefits of a typical facial treatment in less time. Steps involve double cleanse, exfoliating, clay mask, toner, sheet mask, facial massage tools, serum and moisturizer. A mini-home facial lasts between 40 to 45 minutes.

What Does a Mini Facial Consist Of?

The right way of a mini facial at home consists of a double cleanse, exfoliation, clay mask, toner, sheet mask, facial massage tools, serum and moisturizer.

How To Do Facial at Home Step By Step

Double Cleanse- The very first and foremost step is to start with a double cleanse to remove makeup, oil and dirt from the top of the skin layer and to get ready for the next step. Start with an oil-based cleanser to drain makeup and remove debris from the skin. Apply on the face and massage for 2 minutes and wipe off with a warm wet cotton cloth. Remember to dip your washcloth into warm water to remove the oil-based cleanser.

Next, choose a gentle, gel-foaming or cream-based cleanser according to your skin type. Massage cleanser for another 2 minutes and rinse your face off gently.

Exfoliate- Most important part, exfoliate. Exfoliate helps to remove the top dead, damaged layer of skin to penetrate serums and moisturisers to deliver radiant, youthful glowing skin. After taking steam, pat dry the face with a cotton cloth. There are two types of scrubs available in the market. Physical scrub, which contains walnut, brown sugar, or rice bran powder and chemical scrub, which is AHA-BHA. Choose either a physical scrub or a chemical exfoliator to exfoliate your skin. Because of harsh beads in physical scrubs (which can damage skin layers), I’d suggest going for a chemical exfoliator. I personally prefer chemical exfoliators to exfoliate my face. Start with a lower percentage to avoid irritations. Apply AHA-BHA chemical peeling solution all over your face except the eye area (eyelids & under eyes). Keep it on the skin for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes rinse off with lukewarm water. And the towel dries your skin.

Clay Mask- Now, it’s time for a clay mask. Apply a clay mask or any other mask (like salicylic acid, hydrating or vitamin C base) to address your skin concern. Keep for 10 to 15 minutes and wash off. You can also apply a homemade DIY face mask.

Toner- Apply an alcohol-free, non-exfoliating toner, it’ll help to balance your skin’s PH and return to its genuine condition.

Sheet Mask- At this stage apply a hydrating sheet mask and keep it for 15 minutes.

Massage Tools- On top of your sheet mask, use your skin massage tools like an eye massager,  ice roller or face roller. Using facial massage tools increases the effectiveness of an ageing skincare regimen.

Serum- Serums are lightweight highly concentrated skincare products that are designed to deliver powerful active ingredients directly into your skin. Apply only hydrating serum with 2% hyaluronic acid.

Moisturizer- Last but not least, apply a ceramide base, oil-free, non-comedogenic (for acne-prone skin), hypoallergenic (for sensitive skin), and moisturizer.
