WHAT IS AGEING PROCESS
Skin is the largest organ of the human body with the largest contact area between the human body and the external environment and is a barrier that separates the human body from the environment. It not only protects the body from external environmental damage but also has a certain cosmetic effect. The ageing of organs occurs throughout our lives. Ageing is a continuous process associated with the human body, where gradually human body begins to decrease the capability of biological functions and ability to adapt to metabolic stress. Ageing is connected with changes in biological, psychological, social and physiological. Skin ageing is a part of the physiological changing process. Collagen is a protein, that maintains skin’s elasticity, firmness or stretchiness. As we age, skin loses the power of collagen production, and changes occur in the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis, these contribute to thinner skin, lessened elasticity, more fragile, less plump and fatty tissue just below the skin diminishes and start seeing signs of ageing like visible wrinkles and fine lines, age spots, droopy eyelids, uneven skin tone, saggy and dehydrated skin.
WHAT CAUSE SKIN AGEING
According to science ageing is caused by changes in hormones. Well, the main cause of skin ageing is, that is a natural procedure of skin cell regeneration. With age, skin cells regenerate more slowly. Skin has a protein named collagen, found in the middle or dermis layer of skin, which is responsible for holding skin’s tissues together, healthy joints, firmness and skin’s elasticity. As we age, the skin loses the power of new collagen production and starts losing existing collagen per year 1%, from 25 years old. This makes noticeable changes on the skin. The loss of collagen leads to wrinkles, fine lines, saggy and less elasticity of skin gradually, which is visible.
WHAT CAUSE PREMATURE AGEING
Premature ageing is when signs of ageing appear at an early age rather than standard time. The main cause of premature ageing is the ultraviolet radiation from the sun, which is responsible for 90% damages of skin. Sun has UVA and UVB rays. UVB is a more powerful ray than UVA, they both are harmful to the skin. Unprotected sun exposure can directly damage skin’s DNA, and speed up the ageing process. The skin develops more wrinkles, sun spots, dryness and lines. Too much sun exposure can increase the risk of melanoma, a deadly and common type of skin cancer. Sunburn can cause permanent and irreversible skin damage, whether it is mild or severe burns.

ANTI-AGEING SKINCARE ROUTINE
To maintain healthy, radiant and youthful skin, you just need to follow a healthy anti-ageing skincare routine. Here are those seven steps for seven signs of ageing-
DOUBLE-CLEANING
Cleanser always be the first step of the skincare routine. Double-cleaning not only saves from acne, and breakouts but also saves from premature ageing and fights with signs of ageing. Pollution or any type of cosmetic products or makeup like foundation, mascara, blusher etc, can cause premature ageing. Before going to bed if makeup or impurities are left inside the pores and not cleaned well, the regeneration process of the skin slows down and leads the way to premature ageing, noticeable wrinkles, fine lines, and puffy eyes. Therefore double cleansing is an essential part of skincare. Nothing but simply double cleansing is a method of cleaning the face twice. First clean your face with a cleansing oil, which will break down the whole day’s pollution, makeup, dirt, and excess oils. Second, pick an anti-ageing cleanser or vitamin-c base or any type of non-comedogenic cleanser that suits you the best, which will separately address your skin concern.
HYDRATING TONER
If you want to fight with signs of ageing, wrinkles, and fine lines, you must have to keep yourself hydrated from inside as well as outside. Hydration helps to keep your skin nourished, and plumped, maintaining skin’s elasticity and stretchiness. Try using hydrating or hyaluronic acid base toner, after cleaning your face. Take a few drops of toner and lightly dab on the face. No need to rub.
ANTI-AGEING TREATMENT
Anti-ageing active serums are skin care products designed to reduce the signs of ageing by targeting specific skin concerns such as wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots. These serums contain a variety of active ingredients that work to stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, and promote skin cell turnover.
Some of the most common active ingredients found in anti-ageing serums include retinol, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid, and peptides. Each of these ingredients works in a different way to achieve its anti-ageing effects.
Retinol, for example, is a form of vitamin A that helps to increase cell turnover, stimulate collagen production, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps to brighten the skin and reduce the appearance of age spots. Hyaluronic acid helps to hydrate the skin and improve its texture, while glycolic acid exfoliates the skin and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Peptides are amino acids that help to stimulate collagen production and improve skin elasticity.
While these ingredients can be very effective at reducing the signs of ageing, they can also cause some side effects such as irritation, redness, and peeling. It’s important to start with a low percentage of active ingredients and gradually increase the concentration over time as your skin adapts.
When applying an anti-ageing serum, it’s important to follow the instructions carefully. Typically, you’ll want to apply the serum after cleansing and toning, but before moisturizing. Use a small amount of serum and gently massage it into your skin using upward, circular motions.
EYE CREAM
The skin around the eyes is delicate and thinner than other body parts. Constant movement, squinting of eyes and sun damage can alone cause premature ageing faster. As I explained earlier, retinol improves the skin’s collagen production. consequently, start using retinol base under eye cream, after serum, and before moisturiser.
MOISTURISER
Mature skin needs water to keep it hydrated and moisturiser works as water in mature skin. Regular moisturising alone can enhance the appearance of skin texture, retain moisture in the skin’s barrier, make skin plump, and reduce wrinkles and fine lines. Ceramides are known for skin hydrating and hydration keeps skin away from premature ageing. After absorbing the serum, apply a ceramide base moisturiser.
CHEMICAL EXFOLIATOR
Chemical exfoliator helps to skin’s layer turn over faster. This removes a damaged, wrinkled outer epidermic layer of skin, reduces acne, and breakouts and improves the appearance of skin texture, which can make your skin look less wrinkled and visibly younger. Add AHA-BHA chemical peel, twice a week. If you’re a new acid user, then once a week would be enough for you. After becoming used to it, you can change it to twice a week.
SPF
Sun alone, always has been responsible for skin damage. The maximum percentage of premature ageing is caused by UV rays. Unprotected sun exposure can damage skin including sun spots, sun tan, wrinkles, fine lines, pigmentation, blisters, sunburn, and rashes. Too much sun exposure can increase the risk of developing melanoma, a skin cancer, which can be life-threatening. Sunscreen can save skin from premature ageing by creating a barrier against UV rays. I always prefer to use sunscreen whenever going outside as well as staying inside, after 2 hours repeatedly. However, it is important to choose the right sunscreen. Always pick a broad-spectrum, sweat or water-resistant, mineral sunscreen, apply sunscreen in the morning as the last step of your morning skincare routine, also in the evening, or even on a cloudy day, after 2 hours over and again. This will decrease the chances of premature ageing.
LIP BALM
Do not forget to take care of your lips. Look for a hyaluronic acid base lip, it will keep your lips hydrated, plump & juicy.
