Most people follow a religious skincare routine in the morning however they tend to skip a nighttime skincare routine, which is paramount. while the daytime skincare routine focuses on protecting your skin from harmful UV radiation and pollution, the nighttime skincare focuses on the repair and hydration of your skin. Also, the night time your skin has better absorption as compared to the day. The products absorb better during the night and make your skin look plump in the morning. Also, when you go to bed at night, your skin gets a chance to replenish, rejuvenate, and repair all the UV damage, because the ability of skin cells to regenerate at night is high. Your skin’s blood flow increases during the night, when you sleep and the organ rebuilds its collagen and repairs all the daytime damage you have from sun exposure and lessen wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots. So, To get healthy skin, you must follow a superior PM skincare routine.

NIGHT SKINCARE ROUTINE IN ORDER
 

1)Remove your make-up 

It is very important to remove makeup before going to bed. Some cosmetics can clog skin pores, which leads to acne breakouts, blackheads, and whiteheads and makes your skin look tired and dull. Sleeping with makeup can also lead to early-age wrinkles by breaking down collagen and dry skin. Since you have been wearing makeup all day long, It is best to remove it first with a makeup remover or with micellar water. Then proceed towards the next step.

 

2)Double Cleansing (cleansing oil & water-based cleanser)

Double cleansing is a method of cleansing your face twice. The advantage of double cleansing is that the first cleansing oil will break down any makeup that is left after the first step, and remove excess oils and dirt from pores the second cleanser will address your skin concern and it should have ingredients to smooth, hydrate, and treat acne. Double cleansing involves two processes, 1)cleansing oil or cleansing balm and 2) water-based or gentle cleansing. The oil cleansing method is simply cleansing your face using a natural oil-based cleanser or any cleansing balm available in the market. You can pick one, depending on what suits your skin. You can create your mixture, but I suggest buying a cleansing oil from the market. You can use a cleansing balm also. After cleansing oil or cleansing balm, go for a gentle or cleansing water-based cleanser. If you have acne-prone skin you should use a salicylic acid base cleanser but it should contain moisturising elements like hyaluronic acid. 

 

3)Toner

Most people choose to skip toner but just like in the morning, it is important to use a toner at night skincare routine. Toners are especially useful for those with oily or acne-prone skin because they help to refine and shrink pores besides soothing skin after cleansing. Toner maintains hydration of dry, dehydrated skin, and makes it healthy. While adding a toner keep in mind that the toner should be alcohol-free. Toner also maintains the PH level of your skin. If you have fine lines, wrinkles, large pores, acne scars, de-hydrated, rough skin texture, and even your skin is sensitive, you can start using an exfoliating toner. An exfoliating toner contains a lower percentage of glycolic acid or salicylic acid, which can eliminate dead skin cells, reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation, minimize acne scars, and improve skin texture from rough to smooth. Exfoliating toner should be used once daily during the PM skincare routine. Exfoliating toner won’t be needed if you are using an AHA-BHA chemical peeling solution weekly at home.

 

4)Treatment

Start using the active acid serum. This is GAME-CHANGER!!. Think of an acid-base serum as the secret weapon for treating skin problems like dullness, discoloration, signs of aging, pigmentation, acne, and even out your skin. Serums are lighter skincare formulations that allow them to be absorbed more easily into your skin. An active acid base serum has more higher concentration of active ingredients which provides more visible results compared with the other skincare products. It doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on your skin, because it’s light & absorbs into your skin faster. Add an acid-base serum to your night skincare routine for your skin concerns. If you are suffering from pigmentation, sunspots, or blemishes you can go for any of these acid-base serums, alpha-arbutin, lactic acid, tranexamic acid, and ascorbic acid (vitamin-c). If you have wrinkles, fine lines, or saggy skin, you can opt for peptide, retinol, or retinoid base serum. If you tend to have mild acne, bumps, blackheads, or whiteheads, salicylic acid, and niacinamide would be best for you. Acid may make your skin more sensitive to the sun. I would highly suggest using a broad-spectrum, mineral-certified sunscreen with SPF 50 or higher during the day while following the application of acid treatment. Reapply every 2 hours.

 

5)Eye cream

The skin around the eyes is thinner and shows signs of aging more quickly than other areas of the face. This thinness part is more delicate. Constant sun exposure damages the collagen of the skin under your eyes. As a result, dark circles, puffiness, fine lines, and wrinkles appear at a much younger age and the skin under the eyes sags much faster. Moreover, the skin around your eyes gets a much greater workout. Every time you move your eyes whether you smile, laugh, widen, or squint, you are using muscles around your eyes and it can also hasten the appearance of saggy, puffy, and wrinkled under your eye. An eye cream in your daily skincare routine can help lessen the appearance of these problems. Some key ingredients like peptides, caffeine, retinol, and hyaluronic acid-based eye cream are the best choices. Peptides boost collagen production in your skin, making it plumper and more youthful. Caffeine helps to shrink under-eye bags and makes under eye tighten and brighten. Hydration is most important, whether it is under the eye or any other part of the skin. Hyaluronic acid is known for providing great hydration to the skin. Include a hyaluronic acid-based eye cream in the AM and PM (bedtime) skincare routine. The best time to start an under-eye cream is 20’s age. The sooner you start using it, the sooner the result will be seen. 

 

6)Moisturiser

The moisturizer is the key to healthy, glowing skin. Moisturiser keeps you young, it helps retain nutrients and hydration in the skin and nourishes it to the point where your skin needs to boost elasticity, which gives you a plump and youthful face. Fights with wrinkles. Using a daily moisturizer ensures that the skin’s blemishes are camouflaged. Use a hyaluronic acid base or hydrating moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated and smoothen the skin’s texture. While choosing a moisturizer, remember that your moisturizer should be non-comedogenic, which won’t clog skin pores. 

 

7)Lip Balm

just like the other skin areas, lips can also burn from UV radiation. To keep your lips safe, you must start using an SPF-proof lip balm, which should be contained with moisturizing stuff, to keep your lips hydrated and safe from UV radiation.
